Fun in the Sun in Senior Infants

Senior Infants had some great fun outside in recent times. They really enjoyed searching for words and completing their activities outside while revising their Tricky Hat Words.

They had a brilliant time playing with the parachute. They made waves like the sea, made a mushroom, changed colours and had some real fun with a ball.

Bake Sale in aid of CRY

Senior Infants attended the annual Bake Sale in aid of CRY on Friday 26th May.

They bought some delicious treats and enjoyed them whilst on a mini picnic afterwards.

Happy Easter From Senior Infants!

World Book Day 2017

Senior Infants dressed up as their favourite book characters. There was great excitement as we greeted Batman, some witches and farmers along with Willy Wonka and many others to school on March 2nd.

Senior Infants have been busy!

In Senior infants we have been very busy during our “hour of play”. In November we spent our time working in our cafe. Through play we have learned wide range of vocabulary around this topic. Once December began our play area transformed into a Toy shop and we were very busy buying, selling, stocking the shelves and demonstrating how the toys worked. We really love learned through play.

We have also worked learned lots about artists and art techniques. We were inspired by Edward Hopper’s use of light and shade in The Lighthouse at Two Lights. We also looked at George Seurat’s pointillism technique and created some lovely pieces in print.
Jack Frost was about in early December “turning all the greeness to white” and we really enjoyed creating our very own Jack                                                                                                      Frosts.

We had a special visitor to our room for December…our very own elf on the shelf! We were thrilled to welcome Cupcake to senior infants and we did our very best to impress him every dimg_4128

Finally we were delighted with our performance in the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk. We worked very hard to perfect our song “Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty!” And it was very well received by the audience at all performances.

Welcome Back!

Senior Infants readjusted quickly to school life after the summer holidays.

We have been very busy learning about famous artists like Renoir and Franklin.
We also have really enjoyed playing games from Ready, Set, Go Maths. Snail Trail, Animal Hunt, Sweetie Jars and Happy Faces have proven to be real hits. Thanks to Mrs O Sullivan, we have taken our first steps in become computer programmers and we  are fast becoming experts at Bee-Bot!

We are also making great progress in reading through Literacy Lift Off. We are very lucky to have such great help from Mary Conlon, Ms Quigney, Ms O Donoghue and Mrs O Sullivan.

Through Play we have broadened our vocabulary and we are now well able to work on a building site or a hardware shop! We are really looking forward to continue learning through play as really it is so much fun, we don’t realise how hard we are working.

Finally we  are preparing our song and dance for the Christmas Show. Although it seems a long way off we know that a good start is half the work!
